Achievements

There are two achievements that I would like to highlight: occasionally teaching Design Sketching classes and my involvement in the Design Your Life project. Both have shaped me as a designer and researcher, and strengthen me in my goal of completing my PhD and teaching university students.

Occasional teacher

I was an occasional teacher in the Design Sketching classes given at Bachelor level as part of the University of Twente’s Industrial Design Engineering program. This role involved preparing and giving a lecture and supporting students in their sketching assignments during the class.

I enjoyed my time assisting and teaching within these courses. They helped me hone my own sketching skills and gave me the confidence to teach.

Design
Your Life

As part of my Master thesis, I developed and tested a toolkit with a young autistic adult and their caregiver. This case study is part of the Design Your Life research project at the University of Twente. The toolkit aimed at empowering the young autistic adult to design a product that supports their independence. The project allowed the autistic participant to create a product that supports them in achieving their long-term goal. It also deepened the relationship between the participants. The most interesting outcome was the insight into how the ownership of the design goal can shape the direction of the design process of the participants.

Personal life

In my spare time I enjoy bouldering, ballroom dancing and baking. Apart from that, you can also find me making things: DIYing, sketching and painting. I also enjoy discovering new places, from travelling to new countries to enjoying the beautiful Australian landscapes.
